FirstNet Push-to-Talk is powered by 3GPP Mission Critical Technology. Collocated in the core of the FirstNet network, it provides high performance and high availability PTT calling for first responders and public safety. AT&T has embedded a VPN service as part of the FirstNet Push-to-Talk application. The FirstNet push to talk application uses an AT&T defined VPN service to establish connection with limited functions specific to the FirstNet core network servers and FirstNet Push-to- services when the application client is connecting over Wi-Fi access. Signaling and media are encrypted (AES256) form the client to the servers.
